RESUMO

To explore the epidemic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics of dengue patients in Zhejiang and the possible mechanism. Epidemic, clinical and laboratory data of 231 dengue patients admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medicine University between August 2017 and December 2019 were collected. GSE43777 dataset was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database and was used for the immune cell infiltration analysis, logistic regression analysis, and nomogram construction. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) was performed to explore the possible regulatory pathways in dengue infection. Further, the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and decision curve analysis were conducted to evaluate the value of related immune cells in predicting dengue severity. Among the 231 patients, the gender ratio was 1:1.1 (male/female). The patients in the <60 years age group, 60 to 80 years age group, and >80 years age group were 47.2%, 45.5%, and 7.3%, respectively. The major symptoms were fever (100%), weak (98.3%), anorexia (76.6%), muscle and joint pain (62.3%), and nausea (46.8%). In dengue patients, 98.7% of serum samples had decreased platelet levels, 96.5% of them had decreased white blood cell (WBC) levels, 97.8% had elevated aspartate aminotransferase levels, 82.3% had elevated lactate dehydrogenase levels, 49.4% had increased creatinine levels, and 35.5% had increased creatine kinase levels. Pneumonia, pleural effusion, and bilateral pleural reaction were observed in 16.5%, 8.2%, and 4.8%, respectively of dengue patients. Gallbladder wall roughness and splenomegaly accounted for 6.1% and 4.3% of all cases. Moreover, the levels of T cell, B cell, and dendritic cells were significantly higher in the convalescent group and they were involved in immune- and metabolism-related pathways. Of note, low levels of these 3 immune cells correlated with high dengue infection risk, while only dendritic cells exhibited satisfactory performance in predicting dengue severity. Dengue fever patients often onset with fever, accompanied by mild abnormalities of the blood system and other organ functions. Moreover, T cells, B cells, and dendritic cells might be involved in dengue infection and development.

RESUMO

Studies of intermolecular interactions enhance our knowledge of chemistry across molecular and supramolecular levels. Here, we show that host-guest quadrupolar interaction has a profound influence on the molecular system. With covalently bonded dimolybdenum complex units as the electron donor (D) and acceptor (A) and a thienylene group (C4H2S) as the bridge (B), the mixed-valence D-B-A complexes are shaped with clefts in the middle of the molecule. Interestingly, in aromatic solvents, the D-A electronic coupling constants (Hab) and electron transfer rates (ket) are dramatically reduced. Theoretical computations indicate that an aromatic molecule is encapsulated in the cleft of the D-B-A array; quadrupole-quadrupole interaction between the guest molecule and the C4H2S bridge evokes a charge redistribution, which increases the HOMO-LUMO energy gap, intervening in the through-bond electron transfer. These results demonstrate that a supramolecular system is unified underlying the characteristics of the assembled molecules through constitutional, electronic, and energetic complementarities.

RESUMO

Four thienylene (C4H2S) bridged Mo2 dimers, [Mo2(DAniF)3]2(µ-OOCC4H2SCOO) (DAniF = N,N'-di(p-anisyl)formamidinate), [Mo2(DAniF)3]2(µ-N(H)SCC4H2SCN(H)S), [Mo2(DAniF)3]2(µ-OSCC4H2SCSO) and [Mo2(DAniF)3]2(µ-SSCC4H2SCSS), have been synthesized and studied in terms of electronic coupling. The subtle structural differences between these compounds vary largely the extent of electron delocalization; consequently, a systematic transition from Class II to Class III via Class II-III is achieved, which is probed using spectral parameters of intervalence charge transfer (IVCT) absorption (band energy, intensity and shape) for the mixed-valence complexes. Significantly, the species in Class II-III displays a low energy, half cut-off and solvent-dependent IVCT band, while a high energy, less asymmetrical IVCT band is observed for the complex in Class III. These results give fresh and detailed understanding of the system transition.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the genotypic characteristics and persistence of Legionella pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) patterns in 16 air-conditioner cooling towers in six different public sites of Shanghai. METHODS: From May to October, continuous sampling was operated once per month in 2007. Legionella strains isolated from the 16 cooling towers were confirmed by serological and latex agglutination. PFGE was applied for the fingerprinting of the isolates, while the cluster results of PFGE were analyzed by BioNumerics software. RESULTS: 131 strains of Legionella were isolated, including L. pneumophila, L. bozemanae, L. micdadei and L. anisa. 52 distinguishable PFGE patterns were differentiated among the 16 cooling towers, with 37 patterns were owned by just one cooling tower, which was not shared with other cooling towers, while 15 patterns were shared by more than 2 cooling towers. All the cooling towers had ≥ 2 PFGE patterns, while in 13 cooling towers the same PFGE patterns were recovered during the six months. From June to October of 2007, 18 strains of Legionella belonging to the PFGE pattern of LPAs.SH0078 were isolated continuously from 6 cooling towers. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated great genotypic diversity and complexity of Legionella in cooling towers. Persistence of the PFGE patterns was observed in 81.25% of the cooling towers. The PFGE pattern of LPAs. SH0078 was distributed widely, suggesting it might be the dominate strain in Shanghai.
